Adjusters
Adjusters are registered persons, under s.2 of the Financial Services Act 2013 (FSA), to carry out the business of investigating the cause and circumstances of a loss and ascertaining the quantum of the loss in relation to insurance or takaful claims.
Adjusters are part of the financial intermediaries regulated by BNM under the FSA, IFSA, and related regulations. With certain exceptions under the law (e.g. adjusters for aviation and maritime loss), adjusters need to be registered with BNM. Once registered, loss adjusters are permitted to conduct adjusting business on a continuous basis, but required to comply with BNM's requirements on claims settlement practices.
