Analyst/Associate Analyst, Market Conduct Surveillance (Insurance, Takaful & Intermediaries) | Consumer and Market Conduct Department

ROLE PURPOSE
- Assist in the identification and analysis of key and emerging conduct risks in insurance, takaful and intermediaries sectors to support the development of appropriate and timely policy or supervisory interventions necessary to support the BankĄ¯s mandate in promoting fair treatment of financial consumers by financial service providers.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist in the development, maintenance and review of macro/micro conduct surveillance framework to enable timely identification, measurement and assessment of key and emerging conduct risks in the insurance, takaful and intermediaries sector that can pose harm to financial consumers
- Assist in conducting conjectural assessments on domestic, regional or global developments related to the insurance, takaful and intermediaries sector to surface any new regulatory or market developments which could elevate conduct risks in these sectors or the financial consumers they serve.
- Assist in the development of appropriate conduct surveillance techniques and models, as well as drive the digitalisation of internal processes and frameworks using data analytics/AI/ML to enhance efficiencies in existing work processes within the department.
- Assist in the production of periodic reports based on surveillance insights and perform ad hoc analysis on key and emerging conduct risks (e.g. Conduct Risk Outlook, Annual Report and Financial Stability Review, Financial Stability Committee, Board Note) to facilitate risk-based conduct policy and supervisory planning, or in response to requests from other departments and/or Senior Management.
- Stay informed with domestic and international developments in the insurance, takaful and intermediaries sector, as well as newly introduced regulations and surveillance methodologies by other conduct or supervisory authorities.
- Actively engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gain market insights and drive strategic initiatives relating to market conduct agenda or to foster fair consumer outcomes.
- Ensure clear and timely communication to both internal and relevant external stakeholders regarding developments within the banking, ITO and intermediaries sector sector to promote understanding and awareness of market conduct issues.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
- Good knowledge of business conduct related laws, regulations, policies and standard, as well as able to link surveillance insights to conduct risks.
- Highly analytical, creative, dynamic and integrated thinking with sound problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate analytical outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Python, R) to build and design analytics models and tools.
- Keep abreast with domestic and international developments in the financial sector including the analytics fields.
- Establishes and maintains good collaborative relationships with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. regulation and supervision departments, JUN, FIED, FDI and LINK & BNM Offices) and external stakeholders (e.g. industry associations, OFS, consumer groups).
- Ability to multitask under pressure, prioritise tasks appropriately and escalate issues where necessary.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Academic qualification: Honors degree in Analystics / Mathematics / Statistics / Economics / Science Computer or equivalent
- Experiece: 2 (two) years or more working experience in insurance and auditing is an added advantage.
