- Inflation dynamics in the post-COVID environment;
- Monetary transmission mechanism;
- Role of the exchange rate in monetary policy;
- Impact of digitalisation on money and monetary policy;
- Climate change and monetary policy;
- Monetary policy-financial stability interlinkages;
- Efficacy of unconventional monetary policy;

VRF FAQs
Malaysian academics from local universities with a specialisation in econometrics, macro-, monetary or financial economics-related fields.
BNM will accept applications and nominations throughout the year. Shortlisted applicants will typically be informed 10-12 working days after the submission of application.
We conduct many rounds of efforts to match all research projects with the most suitable staff throughout the year. While it may not be an outright rejection, we would highly encourage that you pursue the research under other available programmes or grants if you do not hear from us within 60 days from the date of submission.
Download the form here and fill the requisite details. All applications and nominations should be submitted via email to research@bnm.gov.my.
We recommend for the VRF project to be between 6 and 9 months. However, a shorter or longer duration can be discussed, subject to discretion of Bank staff.
Upon completion of the VRF duration, fellows are expected to have completed one working paper in collaboration with BNM staff.
