Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is pursuing broader research initiatives with researchers by introducing the Research Support Initiative (RSI).
Research Support Initiative (RSI)
This program is designed for post-graduate and post-doctorate candidates specialising in econometrics, macroeconomics, monetary and financial economics, and machine learning/data science.
The goal of this programme is to provide support to candidates conducting research in areas of interest to the Bank.
The research areas we are looking into include:
- Inflation dynamics in the post-COVID environment.
- Monetary transmission mechanism.
- Role of the exchange rate in monetary policy.
- Interaction between monetary and fiscal policy and role of government debt in exiting policy support.
- Impact of digitalisation on money and monetary policy.
- Climate change and its relationship with monetary policy
- Interlinkages between monetary policy and financial stability.
- Effectiveness of unconventional monetary policy.
- Economic recovery post-COVID and long-term impact of COVID on the economy.
- Labour market, wage determination, and price-setting behaviour.
- Leveraging big and alternative data for macroeconomic analysis and forecasting.
